About Grand Master Oh

GM. Myung Kun Oh holds a ninth degree Black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He is Master Hyde’s Grandmaster, and is therefore considered our schools grandmaster. His style of Tae Kwon do is Oh Duk Kwan in Korea. Kwan means school, and the Oh Duk Kwan was one of the eight original school founded in Korea after WWII and the end of the Japanese occupation. He teaches “Oh Duk Kwan style” Tae Kwon do and consequently, Master Hyde teaches Oh Duk Kwan Tae Kwon Do as well.

GM Oh is a native of Korea who began studying Tae Kwon do as a young child. He served in the Korean military, eventually becoming a Master of Green Berets Special Forces, serving in Korea and Vietnam. He first came to the United States in the 1970’s and settles in New York. In 1984, GM Oh moved his family to Florida to open up a school in Pinellas County.

GM Oh passed away on February 7, 2009.
